China Chief Information Officer Union (hereinafter referred to as C-CIO) is jointly set up by Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE), Publishing House of Electronics Industry, Renmin University of China, under the guidance and support of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). C-CIO is an open and nonprofit nationwide organization that regularly communicates and discusses the industry hotspot problems. The establishment of the C-CIO aims to implement the comprehensive popularization of the CIO system in large and medium-sized enterprises, the formulation of enterprise CIO system construction guidelines, the vocational training of CIOs, and other specific work driving the depth fusion of informatization and industrialization, which are specifically proposed in Notice about the special action plan of depth fusion of informatization and industrialization (2013-2018) by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and prepare for the establishment of China Association of CIO. Large and medium-sized units, main management personnel, technical directors and chief information officers from all walks of life that are engaged in information system management, application, development and research can voluntarily apply to join C-CIO and participate in the activities organized by C-CIO.
The C-CIO has the Advisory Committee, the Steering Committee, the Expert Committee and the Board of Directors. Among them, Wang Qinmin, Vice Chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee and Chairman of the National Federation of Industry and Commerce, serves as the Director of the Advisory Committee; Yang Xueshan, Vice Minister of MIIT, serves as the Director of the Steering Committee and the Expert Committee; Xu Xiaolan, Member of the 12th CPPCC National Committee and Secretary General of CIE, serves as the President of the Board of Directors of the C-CIO. The C-CIO absorbs 31 local economic and information committees (Department of Industry and Information Technology) and 42 enterprises, a total of 73 units as deputy director units and absorbs 108 enterprises as the council units.
At present, the C-CIO mainly carries out the following work: conferences, demonstration and selection, training and certification, policy publicity, research and consultation, standards implementation, publication and international exchanges.
